Con Dao (Côn Đảo) island is a small island of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.

How to get Con Dao island

Con Dao is an offshore island so there’re just 2 ways to get there: plane and ship. 

Plane

You can get Con Dao by plane from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh city (Sai Gon city). Before, there were MekongAir and VietnamAirline having flights to Con Dao, but now only VietnamAirline. You can consult the times and ticket prices of VietnamAirline at here, or contact:

When leaving the airport (on Con Dao island), you will see few 16-seat and 24-seat cars of hotels and resorts. You just pick one to get Con Son town. All of cars have similar price and act like buses. 

Getting by ship

From Sai Gon, you have to come Vung Tau by bus, then go to Cat Lo port to take ship ticket. 

Few bus go to Vung Tau from Sai Gon (price about $6): 

– Mai Linh bus at Mien Dong bus station (292 Dinh Bo Linh – Binh Thanh district – Ho Chi Minh City). Tel: +848.39.39.39.39

– Kumho Samco at Mien Dong bus station, tel +848.35.112.112 

– Phuong Trang bus at 205 Pham Ngu Lao street – 1 district – HCM city, tel +848.38.309.309 

You should tell driver to let you alight at Cat Lo port (cảng Cát Lở).

To take ship tickets (price about $10), you can buy through tourism companies in Ho Chi Minh city, or contact direct to ticket office of the port +84643.838.684. There’re 2 ships run from Vung Tau to the island: Con Dao 9 and Con Dao 10, start at 5pm and arrive Ben Dam port (cảng Bến Đầm – the port in Con Dao island) at 6am of next day. 

You should carry few foods, the ships also sell foods but just few snacks. 

If starting from Hanoi, you should get by plane because the distance is too long and taking about up to near 2 days.
